Night Coordinator - Waterloo Manor Hospital (Leeds)

Location: Leeds LS25 1NA

Pay: £47,000.00

Hours: 40 hours per week / Monday - Friday (Night Shift Rota)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 

Job Purpose

To provide senior clinical leadership and operational management across the hospital/site during night shifts, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

· Act as the senior nurse in charge of the hospital/site overnight

· Provide guidance and support to ward staff across multiple units

· Respond to clinical incidents, emergencies, and complex situations

· Support care for patients with Mental health conditions

 

· Operational Management

· Oversee bed management, admissions, and patient flow during the night specific to the PICU

· Coordinate staffing levels and redeploy staff where necessary

· Ensure wards are safely staffed and operational

Decision Making

· Act as the key decision-maker in the absence of senior daytime management

· Escalate concerns appropriately to on-call managers or medical staff

· Manage risk and ensure patient and staff safety

Communication

· Liaise with on-call doctors, emergency services, and external agencies

· Provide clear handovers to day staff and senior management

· Support staff with advice and problem-solving

Governance & Safety

· Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical standards

· Lead on incident reporting and immediate response

· Promote safeguarding, confidentiality, and duty of care

Person Specification

Essential

· Registered Nurse RMN with active registration via the Nursing and Midwifery Council

· Significant post-registration clinical experience

· Strong leadership and decision-making skills

· Ability to manage emergencies and work under pressure

· Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

· Experience in a senior or supervisory role

· Knowledge of hospital/site management procedures

· Experience in mental health or acute care settings

Working Conditions

· Night shifts only (typically 12-hour shifts)

· Responsible for the entire hospital site

· High level of responsibility and autonomy
